Having toxic employees in your office can really affect our business. A manager is only as good as their team. Without the team, working like a well-oiled machine to turn out the ROI, a business cannot be its best.

While it’s hard to manage staff expectations, it can be even harder to ensure you have the right team in place. Large corporations and blue-chip businesses often have a HR team, not just one person in the role. For SME and Sole Proprietors, this is an unrealistic expectation and therefore, most of the HR decisions are made by the director or owner of the business. In a small team, if there is one toxic employee, this can affect the whole team which in turn is bound to affect productivity and positive outcomes. So how do we ensure we only employ the right puzzle pieces to fit our organizations goals and needs instead of toxic employees?

This is a hard one. However, in this day and era of digital access and using the internet to reach an international market, there are some unconventional solutions to employment. By employing a freelancer or part timer virtually, you can get what you need done, without risking employing the wrong fit for the company.

This can also help your financial budget by not having to pay a full time or part time wage. With a virtual employee or freelancer, you are only paying for the time you need or a by project basics, thus saving you money and increasing your profits.
